Azerbaijani minister arrives in Tehran

Azerbaijani Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev has arrived in Tehran on Sunday as the head of a delegation to open a cultural festival.

Garayev came here two days ahead of the opening ceremony to open an Azerbaijani cultural festival which will offer a wide range of colorful programs from Tuesday.

Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Reza Salehi-Amiri held talks with Garayev in Tehran on Monday.

The Azerbaijani minister is also set to meet a number of other Iranian cultural officials during his stay.

The Azerbaijani cultural festival is scheduled to offer an orchestra performance at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall during the opening ceremony.

The orchestra will also give a second performance in Isfahan on July 5.

The organizers have arranged a number of other programs as well to be performed during the program.

They will hold an exhibition of photos under the title 'Azerbaijan of Today' opening on July 4 at the Iranian Academy of Arts. The exhibition will be running for one week.

Furthermore, Arasbaran Cultural Center in Tehran is set to screen a number of movies directed by Azerbaijani filmmakers, including ‘Nabat’ by Elchin Musaoglu, ‘Interrupted Memories’ by Elkhan Jafarov, as well as ‘Lesson’ co-directed by Rafiq Aliyev and Cavid Tavakkul.

Azerbaijani artists are also scheduled to perform ‘Husband and wife’, a musical comedy written by Uzeyir Hajibeyov in 1909, at Tehran’s Honar Hall on July 7-8.

Garayev and the delegation are set to visit historical sites in Iranian cities of Isfahan and Ardebil during the stay.
